The flow tube sensor assembly is large, rugged, and relatively insensitive to dirt buildup. The second sensor undergoes self-heating to a constant temperature above that of the gas stream from control by the temperature sensor and bridge circuitry. Integral style flow tube thermal mass flow meters have all the electrical components and connections within one enclosure. This enclosure offers ratings for hazardous environments. The enclosure mounts directly to the inline flow section at the point of measurement. Moreover, they are ideal for most applications with limited available straight run. In many installations, the up-stream straight run can reduce to three diameters. The gas returns to the main flow stream through the ports near the sensing elements.
