The PR 9106 HART Transparent Repeater is a high-performance signal repeater for industrial automation and process control applications where reliable, accurate communication is critical. This versatile signal conditioning device delivers robust galvanic isolation (2.6 kVAC) to protect sensitive instrumentation from electrical interference. As a result, the 9106, from PR electronics, ensures consistent signal integrity, even in harsh environments. With support for active as well as passive mA inputs and outputs, the PR 9106 HART Transparent Repeater seamlessly interfaces with 2-wire SMART transmitters and current sources while enabling bi-directional HART & BRAIN communication.

  • The 9106 supplies 2-wire SMART transmitters and is also suitable for use as a 2-wire SMART current source.
  • This HART Transparent Repeater supports both HART & BRAIN protocols and can transfer bi-directionally.
  • For duplication/migration purposes, outputs can send to two different DCS,  PLC/HMI, or any monitoring system. 
  • Models in the 9106 Series are galvanically isolated, intrinsically safe, and feature various certifications for use in hazardous areas as well as marine applications.
  • Model PR 9106A:
    • 1- or 2-Channel isolated 1:1 repeater.
    • Suitable for use in safe areas and can also mount in Zone 2 / Class I, Div 2, Groups A, B, C, D.
  • Model PR 9106B:
    • 1- or 2-Channel isolated 1:1 repeater barrier for intrinsic safety applications.
    • Mounts in Zone 2 / Class I, Div 2; it can also receive signals from Zone 0, 1, 2, 20, 21, 22, M1 / Class I, II, III, Div 1, Groups A, B, C, D, E, F, G.
  • In safety applications (SIL loops), model 9106xxBx is suitable for use as a splitter with the following output configuration:
    • When using 9106xxBx in a SIL2 safety function, channel 1 is the safety loop.
    • Channel 2 is suitable for any non-safety device.
    • For higher safety purposes (SIL 3), 9106xxBx can function as a splitter for SIL 3 loops.
    • Channel 1 and 2 then connect to the same safety PLC, where channel 2 is a redundant diagnostic channel (for more information, consult the FMEDA Report and the Safety Manual).

 

PR 9106 HART Transparent Repeater from PR electronics

Featuring wide flexibility, the PR 9106 HART Transparent Repeater can operate as a single-channel or dual-channel repeater. Furthermore, the 9106 Series includes a splitter function to duplicate a single input to two outputs, which is ideal for feeding multiple DCS, PLC, or HMI systems without signal degradation. Its fast response time (-5 ms) and high accuracy (better than ±0.1%) ensure real-time monitoring performance. Some models of the PR 9106 feature certification for use in SIL2/SIL3 safety loops according to IEC 61508 and is suitable for safety-critical installations.

  • The detachable displays in the PR 4500 series and the green and red front LEDs indicate operation status for each channel.
  • Monitoring of error events and cable breakage on input via the individual status relay and/or a collective electronic signal via the power rail.
  • Failure rates for PR 9106 Series correspond to Performance Level "d" according to ISO-13849.
  • High galvanic isolation of 2.6 kVAC.
  • Fast response time <5 ms.
  • High accuracy better than 0.1%.
  • 2-wire transmitter supply >16 V.
